Elizabeth Banks talks Effie and Capitol Accent~
Let's talk Hunger Games: Where did you come up with Effie’s voice?
It’s a combination of The Philadelphia Story and Rosalind Russell in Auntie Mame.Really?
Rosalind Russell is just amazing. It’s one of my favorite performances ever. I wanted Effie to be really theatrical. I just wanted to make sure she didn’t sound too British. She needed to be a little highfalutin.Which fans are more intense: A cappella fans or Hunger Games fans?
I would bet there’s a ton of crossover.Would Effie Trinkett have been in an a cappella group?
Sure. There might be a cappella groups in the Capitol. That’s probably allowed. I think the Capitol wouldn’t find that too threatening. But not in District 12, right?
They probably do a little barbershop in District 12. They need something to keep their spirits up.

On her death in the movie: “Oh, it’s a very tragic scene, but it was actually really fun to do. Because I had a lot of fun with Jen…I think my death was actually pretty fun.”
On working with Jennifer Lawrence: “Jen is fantastic, and she’s super funny, so I had so much fun with her.”
On whether she thinks that Hunger Games will take over Twi’s spot as a pop culture phenom: “Oh yeah, I guess so,” Amandla shrugged.Source: eonline via THGtrilogy

"I would be in the hair and makeup trailer and I was Elizabeth, and then the wig went on and very suddenly I was Effie," says Banks, 37. "Every day I would have that aha moment, like, 'We did it! We found Effie!' "
"For sure the biggest challenge of playing Effie was the shoes!" says Banks. "All of my shoes in the movie are completely amazing but highly uncomfortable. I said to Gary, 'You better be shooting these shoes, because they're killing me.' "Source: People Magazine

Vanity Fair's intervju med Josh~
Source: Vanity FairTell me about getting this role.
It was a very rigorous auditioning process. I’ve been a fan of the series for a little while now, and I went in and I met with Gary and Suzanne [Collins, the author of the Hunger Games books] and a couple of the producers initially, and I did a little audition. It was great, and I really hit it off with them and felt really good about it. And then a couple weeks went by, which were brutal. And then they brought me in to do a screen test, basically, with Jennifer, where I read with her. . . . And then I had to wait another couple of weeks or so before I found out that I got the part. And that was brutal, after doing a screen test. I think it was actually about a week and a half, [and] waiting to hear anything was just, like, ugh. Because I wanted it so badly, and all that time just lying there, waiting to see what happens, was pretty rough.
And how is it working with Jennifer?
[She] and I totally hit it off. We’re both very crazy people—we don’t really hold anything back. Which is really great. We were able to have a really good time, and not let anything get in the way of it looking stupid or anything like that. We probably look stupid like 99 percent of the time, but we have a good time doing it—so it’s worth it.
And on the books, are you on the third or are you finished?
I’m finished already. I finished them. You can’t stop! When the book ends, you’re like, I am reading book two immediately!

Lionsgate om Trailern~
"In an attempt to preserve the anticipation and mystery that fans are relishing, the trailer only shows footage from the first half of the film, chronicling events leading up to but not including the Games themselves. After giving fans their first look at all of the book’s beloved characters brought to life, giving viewers who haven’t read the book vital information about the world of Panem, the trailer ends with an electrifying cliffhanger right as Katniss enters the arena."

Vanity Fair intervju med Gary Ross~
Krista Smith: Tell me—how did you get into The Hunger Games?
Gary Ross: I read the book. My kids turned me on to it, and I went nuts. I guess, about a year ago. I literally read it and said, “I have to make the movie.”
How did you get Jennifer to play Katniss?
I was just a fan. When you do what I do, any time you see an actor like this emerge—I think everybody’s head sort of snapped, you know? Both from Winter’s Bone and other work that she’s done, I was just always very aware of her. And then I had a meeting with her, and I was just as impressed, and then she came in and read for us and she sort of blew me away. But I wasn’t totally surprised, because I think that an actor like this comes along, you know, once a generation.
Elizabeth Banks told me she had written you a letter saying she had to play the part in Seabiscuit.
She actually wrote me again this time, telling me how much she loved Hunger Games and that she wanted to play Effie, so that makes a ton of sense. Liz has done a fantastic job.
You also have Josh Hutcherson in the part of Peeta.
He kind of reminds me of a young Jack Lemmon. There’s this incredible versatility to him; he’s wise beyond his years, he’s sort of mature beyond his years, and there’s just such a natural ease to his acting. He’s so comfortable.
Mockingjay.net har sett Trailern - grät~

Jennifer Lawrence tar 2:a platsen som Hottest New Hollywood Actress~
The Actress: Oscar-nominated for her turn in indie favourite Winter’s Bone, Lawrence has since wowed the multiplex crowd with her eye-catching performance as Mystique in X-Men: First Class. First rule of showbusiness: wearing nothing but blue paint is a sure-fire way of getting yourself known…
Why So Hot? The Hunger Games series might just be the next Harry Potter (or at least that’s what Lionsgate will be hoping), or at the very least, the next Twilight. Starring as the saga’s feisty heroine Katniss Everdeen, and with a reappearance in the next X-Men movie also likely, Lawrence is set to take her place at the very top of the A-list.

Liam Hemsworth intervju med Vanity Fair~
Source: Vanity FairKrista Smith: Did you read the books before you knew it was going to be a movie?
Liam Hemsworth: I feel like the books were just written like a movie. You read it and you can just kind of see everything. … [R]ight before I went in to read with the director, I read the first book and I loved it. I didn’t realize how good the writing was. And then I went in and read with [director] Gary Ross, and that was it.
When you were reading it, was there a certain part you identified with?
Oh yeah, it was always for Gale. It was always for Gale. I read the script, and Gale definitely felt more right than Peeta.
Did they film all three of these in one, or did you just film one?
No, originally I think they talked about maybe shooting them back-to-back, but no, we shot the first one and it was all shot in North Carolina. And how was that? I know a lot of it was in the woods.
You know, it was great. It was awesome. We shot in a place called Asheville, which is like beautiful, beautiful forests. … And then part of it we shot all the reaping stuff, which was just crazy—because the reaping in the book and in the script is such an emotional thing for everyone. It really did feel like that when we were shooting it. You know, the thought of young kids going off into this scary kind of world was pretty crazy.
How did they actually handle that in the movie? Because it is incredibly violent in the book—it’s basically kids killing kids.Yeah, I haven’t seen anything cut yet. I’m sure they’ll do it very classy.
What sort of stuff did you identify with, with Gale?
What I thought was really interesting was—and it’s one of the hardest things to think about: one of your best friends, or someone in your family, basically going off to war. And that’s kind of what happens to Gale in the first book. As much as he’s against the government and wants to stand up to them, he really is helpless. He can’t do anything about it. … I just thought it was such a gut-wrenching kind of thought.
And how was the physical stuff?
In this one, for me, it was more about losing weight. He’s a pretty poor person.
Right, you’re starving!
Everyone’s pretty hungry, so I wanted to look a little hungry. [M]y brother said to me before I started shooting—he texted me and said something about me putting on weight. But basically his point was that it was called Hunger Games, not Eating Games. That was a wake-up call. I was like, Are you calling me fat or something? And how was working with Jennifer Lawrence and Gary Ross?
Jennifer was great. She is fantastic. Really easy to work with, no drama, really down-to-earth, such a funny girl. Nothing but good things to say about her. She really was great to work with. And it always makes it easier when you’re working with people that you like and you enjoy being around.
Gary Ross is amazing. He’s just—he always has a billion ideas of what he wants, but has a very clear perspective also; he just makes it work. He really does. He’s trying different things and making everything look amazing.
Is there any trepidation as an actor about going into something like this, and becoming hounded like Robert Pattinson—living that kind of life, where you’re a prisoner in your own house?
The thought definitely crosses my mind, but for me, it has always been about reading great scripts and finding things I relate to, and this was one of those. As an actor, I think you always want your work to do well, and I think that’s hopefully what’s going to happen. Hopefully this movie does turn out as great as everyone wants it to be, and hopefully we don’t disappoint anyone.

Jennifer, Gary och Josh om Hungerspelen~
“My kids turned me on to it, and I went nuts. You rarely get a tentpole that has this much emotional depth, this much character to dive into.” – Gary Ross
“Katniss is an incredible character: she’s a hunter but not a killer, a 16-year-old who’s being forced into the arena. These kids are killing one another only because if they don’t they’ll die. It’s heartbreaking.” – Jennifer Lawrence
“I literally read all three books over the course of five days. My mind was blown by how much I felt I was like Peeta. We shot in the forest near Asheville, North Carolina—a lot of fight scenes, very physically demanding. Jennifer and I totally hit it off. We’re both crazy people—we don’t hold anything back.”- Josh Hutcherson
“My responsibility was to Suzanne and the readers, to give them the same experience they had when they read the book. I was just so lucky that I had the cast I had.” – Gary RossSource: Vanity Fair via THG trilogy

How the actors got their part in the movie~
The Young Cast of The Hunger Games~
While the odds may not be in favor of these actors in the arena, they certainly were in the casting room. In what was one of the most-watched casting calls for young actors since Twilight, auditions for The Hunger Games were a battle royale in their own right. Anxious to make the cut, hopefuls went all out: they covered their faces with dirt, put twigs in their hair, and wielded various weapons (including a Nerf crossbow and plastic butcher knife). It was all for the chance to play the “tributes” who fight each other to the death in contests broadcast throughout Panem (the futuristic ruins of North America) in the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’s wildly popular young-adult novels. Ultimately, director Gary Ross took a liking to a fresh-faced cast that includes stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth, and a host of new breakout actors. Scroll your mouse over their faces to get the basics on the soon-to-be household names, and read about how they got their highly coveted roles.
