"Peeta is the closest version of myself that I've ever gotten to play in a movie," Hutcherson says. "His core belief is not letting the world around him change who he is. I have never let anything around me affect what I believe, which is that you treat others the way you want to be treated."

"I was persistent; some would say annoying," Hutcherson laughs, and adds his first paying job was as an extra in a Bible study video. "I was driven to be an actor because I find people so interesting. I wanted to get inside different perspectives."

När det är Prims namn som dras i lottningen ser Katniss ingen annan utväg än att själv ta Prims plats i spelen.

“I absolutely cast the right person for the role,” Ross told Entertainment Weekly. “It was the easiest casting decision I ever made in my life.”

While shooting “Hunger Games,” Lawrence appeared opposite James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender in “X-Men: First Class” and with Mel Gibson in Jodie Foster’s “The Beaver.” But as career-changing as 2011 has been, the 2012 release of “Games” could transform Lawrence into a pop-culture phenomenon on the level of “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe or “Twilight’s” Kristen Stewart.

"Rue's the emotional heart of the film, very sweet, and I loved playing her," reports Stenberg who admits there's "a lot of her in me. She's like a bird -- quick and very independent."

Background: Before Lawrence looked stunning in her red dress at the 2011 Academy Awards, she was an actress-with-potential knocking around Hollywood auditions. A fan of the novels, Lawrence said, “I love the ‘Twilight’ books. I’m not even ashamed to say it, they are like methamphetamine to me. So when I heard Kristen Stewart say, “I only read the first one,” I was like, “Oh man,” because she wasn’t a huge fan of the books.”
What If: Being such a Twi-hard, Lawrence may have delivered a more literal performance, for better or worse. She’s such a great actress it’s tough to say Stewart is definitely the better Bella. However, if Lawrence had gotten the role, she would not have been done “Winter’s Bone,” we wouldn’t have seen in her Oscar red dress and she wouldn’t be starring in “The Hunger Games.” All of those would have been tragedies.
